MISSION: Vashon Island, Washington: The environmental model for the world.
Provide environmental service and education to the businesses and residents of Vashon Island and King County Washington, including education about the benefit of worms and composting.
Provide a service to eliminate all “green” food waste (i.e. grocery store food waste, restaurant prep waste and resident kitchen scraps) with a vermicomposting system and returning the compost to the residents of Vashon Island.
Eat it here, Keep it here, Use it here
Provide a program to eliminate the “other than green food waste” (i.e. clean yard waste and post plate food waste) with a vermicomposting system and/or alternate methods and returning the compost or other products to the residents of Vashon Island.
Provide environmental service and education to the businesses and residents, other than Vashon Island and King County.
Provide space for residents to garden at the WormFarm Garden Patch. This will be “organic and sustainable only” gardening including soil amendments, education and community. Sustainable means growing foods under conditions in which you improve the quality of the soil and conserve natural resources. Organic means you grow food following USDA guidelines which include rules to not use chemical pesticides or fertilizers and can’t be genetically modified. We will follow the “spirit” of both.
Provide WormFarm garden space for research and development.
Provide an organic WormFarm Farm Stand for the community.
